APPLICATION
::Basic Information::
Name: Mei Xiang Chun
Age: 15
Birthday: 15th of may
Appearance:
Mei Xiang is a very petite girl standing at a meager 5'2, with soft pale skin (for a girl of Asian origin) and big amber eyes (speckled with touches of chestnut). Her hair is long and reaches the middle of her back, its style is straight (though sometimes she lets it lie wavy) and neat and she decorates it with a single pretty Plumb blossom. Her hair is coloured a chocolate brown which in the shadows looks very dark and almost black in tone! Of course like most people not all of her hair lies neatly; and there is one giant unruly curl which she can never seem to straighten out.
Her lips are a soft pink and are generally heart shaped giving Mei the overall appearance of a porcelain doll. And like a porcelain doll she does appear very fragile, her body is flat with only the tiniest trace of curves which lie around her hips. And although she isn’t completely flat chested her feminine assets are hardly well developed. Not that she’s complaining, Mei doesn’t want to be overly developed she’s quite happy just the way she is.
Usually while not in her school uniform Mei wears a pretty pink and white Qipao though recently she’s started to experiment with westernised clothing.
Strengths
[+] Strong Will
[+] Dependable
[+] Plant Biology – she can control plants so of course it’ll be her best subject.
[+] Cooking
Weaknesses
[-] Inability to say no – not exactly lack of a backbone but she can’t say not to people who ask something of her.
[-] Worries to much
[-] Insecure
[-] has a teeny tiny problem with authority

For Humans
Occupation:
Attitude Towards Mutants:
For Mutants
Power: Flower Manipulation
Brief Description of Abilities: Flower Manipulation:
Don’t be fooled by its prissy name, as much like its cousin power - plant manipulation; flower manipulation generally works the same way with the user controlling and creating flowers from the earth by will and other natural resources.
Though unlike its cousin power it’s strictly exclusive to flowers and those flowers are limited to those known and studied by the user. By fusing the biological DNA of different flowers together Mei (in theory) can make delicate blossom petals as sharp as razor thorns and turn rose vines (among other plants) into deadly tendrils while willing them to do her bidding, though she hasn’t developed her power that far yet. Her power also leaves her smelling as sweet as whichever flowery scent takes her fancy and her knowledge of poisonous flowers leaves room for a much darker side to the power.
Fire is a general weakness as well as lack of moisture in the air (which would leave her incapable of creating new flowers) sunlight would also directly influence Mei. As too little sunlight would weaken her and render her generally harmless (as well as incapable of creating new flowers), too much sunlight and a dry climate would leave her constantly dehydrated as well as tired and her creations weak and lifeless.

Personality:
How can one begin to describe the adolescent mind of one Mei Xiang Chun? Well to start off we could say Mei is very dependable, she’s loyal to her friends, and simply cares too much about the people she loves, (though sometimes this loyalty can be lead her to be manipulated as she's still very naive). This includes all of her friends (even if they sometimes grate on her) she loves them with all her heart and would try her best for any of them. As she is from rural Taiwan she has been brought up with a strict Taiwanese upbringing (which corresponds to the fact her elderly grandmother brought her up) meaning she knows her place, she’s sensible to an extent and sometimes - thanks to her grandmothers abuse - she finds it hard to speak her mind - especially when she's feeling down. However when she does she can be very blunt and will tell most people what she thinks of certain situations, or whether she agrees with their views.
Though she does have a little bit of a rebellious streak, one which those she whose authority she doesn’t care for have had to put up with for the last sixteen years ; she won’t listen to anything she’s told to do by someone she doesn’t respect or someone doesn’t have a certain authority level. She can be quite rude and will simply tell them ‘you’re annoying.’ (A statement some of her old friends are definitely used to hearing) though she tries to pass it off as more playful than rude.
However recently Mei Xiang has become a very nervous character and has a terrible tendency to worry over things that most people wouldn’t usually worry about. Sometimes it gets to the stage where she’ll lose sleep over a problem, which reflects badly in the development of her powers and her work. From this she can appear quite shy and meek when you first meet her as she has a bad tendency of rambling when she’s nervous and even stuttering. Though once she see’s you as a friend instead of foe she instantly warms to the person and finds it easier to talk to them.
Mei Xiang is also a terrifically naive person; she’s a day dreamer and tends to live in her own little blissful bubble where she can dream to her heart’s content. Her own naivety however can be her undoing as she tends to drift her way into situations without realising it, causing unwanted trouble for herself and for others. Mei Xiang is also quite sensitive and her emotions can change at a flick of a switch, she’s easily upset but she can also very easily recover – so when she’s in a bad mood or a glum mood people tend to tiptoe round her, being very careful not to set her off.
Another trait of Mei Xiang is that she can be a very stubborn person when she wants to be. While she’s not purposely reckless she won’t change her mind once it’s set on something. This can either be good or bad depending on the situation as it takes a hell of a lot to change her mind. She’s also recently developed her own insecurities, she worries – like most girls – that she’s not pretty enough or clever enough, she even worries about the clothes she wears and hates having her picture taken mostly this is down to her grandmothers abuse and abandonment, but she’s healing – slowly.
Overall however she’s a friendly person (if not a tad judgemental) one who likes to see the good in others, she’s helpful and quite gentle as she likes helping other people as she believes one day they’ll help her in return. If someone’s rude to her it takes a lot of time to gain her trust again, as she’d constantly second guess on whether or not the person was being honest with her and her own personal paranoia would ebb away at her feelings making it hard for her to sit comfortably with that person.
History:
Mei Xiang had grown up in the stunning Taiwanese countryside surrounded by the many flowers in her grandmother’s garden. Her grandmother had been a keen botanist and kept a diary of the few species of flowers that grew in the tiny garden she owned, Mei was a constant roamer and would be often found exploring the wildflower fields near her grandmothers tiny house. Mei never knew her parents and as her grandmother refused to talk about them; so for fear of bringing shame to the household- they were never discussed leaving a lot of unanswered questions of Mei’s.
Mei Xiang's first encounter with her gift (as her grandmother called it) was a time she can’t remember back when she was the meagre age of five; according to Mei’s grandmother she’d found Mei surrounding by large flowers whose petals kept opening and closing in sync to Mei’s breathing leaving the elderly woman baffled and incredibly worried that her granddaughter would be a freak.
Throughout her childhood Mei’s grandmother tried her best to suppress Mei’s growing abilities; from beating her when Mei showed any signs of floral control to not allowing her in the garden, or out of the house at all. Though despite her best efforts she could never fully extinguish the power, and Mei’s first personal memory of using her power was during her tenth year, in which she was messing around pretending to be a superhero along with some of the neighbourhood children. They had been playing by one of the many flower patches that surrounded the tiny countryside village when Mei had shot up her hand and a tiny rose plant grew almost ten feet in height, thankfully none of the other children had witnessed Mei’s miraculous discovery but it had terrified the young girl and had sent her running straight home in a flood of tears.
Her grandmother had been expecting this, though she hadn’t quite banked on Mei Xiang discovering her gift so soon; without any hint of remorse Mei’s Grandmother took her walking cane and tried once more to beat the power from her granddaughter, all while screaming abuse and insults at her to stop using the ability.
Oddly, this technique worked for a while and it wasn’t until Mei was fourteen that her power resurfaced with a vengeance. She’d been making paper cranes by the window in her bedroom, forbidden from walking in the garden Mei had come to love the Japanese art of Origami and used it when Television or homework couldn’t fill the long boring hours of the day. While she sat by the window a gust of wind brushed one of her cranes out onto the garden below, without thinking Mei stepped out into the garden and everything went black.
It was a beautiful yet disturbing site, and when Mei Xiang’s grandmother returned home and caught the haunting site of her granddaughter in a power induced trance wreaking havoc on the garden. When Mei had finally snapped out of it, she awoke to a moonlight sky and the garden in ruins. Paving stones had been ripped from the patio and the pretty greenhouse was nothing more than a wooden shell surrounded by shattered glass. Her hands were bloody and cut from manipulating the razor sharp petals as well as their tendrils and bruised from forcing her power to quickly.
Mei Xiang freaked out, she’d never felt so terrified of herself in her whole life, though it scared her grandmother even more who refused to let Mei back into the house. Instead the old woman packed her granddaughter a suitcase and sent her the following week, to Galena City and the special academy that resided there. Her power never surfaced again to the strength it had in the garden, even when she tried all she could seem to do now was grow a few foreign flowers and a couple of plant tendrils. She wants to know how to control it, as she believes she could do some good with her power.
Sample RP:
The corridors of the academy stood silent with a lucid atmosphere. An atmosphere that would certainly be disturbed when Mei Xiang sped down its corridors at an almost tremendous speed, she was sure she’d set her alarm clock last night, goodness knows why she decided to stay up late watching those silly Taiwanese dramas. Though she had always thought the main actor was kind of hot, her eyes glazed over dreamily as her mind began to fantasize, her pace even slowed down as a tiny smile drifted across her lips.
Oh god, she really did need to focus! She shook her head causing dark chocolate waves to fall messily around her shoulders and a certain long curl to fall annoyingly between her eyes. Batting it away gently she repositioned it before taking off desperately searching for the classroom she was meant to be attending. She bit her lip as worry began to set in, what if she was so late they gave her detention. Her chestnut eyes widened, she couldn’t handle that, balling her fists shakily she felt the tiny flower in her hair mouth in sync to her breathing. She needed to cool down.
