APPLICATION
::Basic Information::
Name: Lovino Vargas
Age: 17
Birthday: March 17th
Appearance: Lovino is a tad smaller than average in terms of height, though if you were to ask him personally, he's under the impression that he's over average, due to growing up a small bit taller than his brother. He has an olive complexion, dark brown hair, as well as a stubborn piece that curls up regardless of what anyone does to try and tame it. He's never bothered to try himself, of course. His eyes are hazel, but they tend to look greener in bright light. Though in truth he isn't always angry, he can appear so, and tends to frown and scowl more than he does smile in conversation.
Strengths
[+] Makeshift toughness — With years of practice, though it doesn't always work as well as he'd like it to, Lovino can manage looking and acting tough to some degree. It keeps basic trouble at bay.
[+] Realistic — He knows very well what the world is like, and doesn't expect anything less than the worst from daily life and those around him. It's not always a pro to view the glass as half empty, but it certainly keeps disappointment from taking hold.
[+] Cautiousness — He isn't gullible in the least bit. He's very careful about who and what he decides to listen to, and as a result, isn't easily fooled.
[+] Loyal — He is distrusting by nature, but once someone has earned his trust, he is very loyal to that person, even if he doesn't necessarily seem it.
[+] Up to speed — He isn't the most intelligent of people by any means, but he's a quick learner when he actually as the motivation to put his mind to something.
[+] Fluency — He is fluent in both English and Italian, as well as Spanish, to a lighter caliber. This is handier than one might think.
Weaknesses
[-] Impatience — Plain and simple, he's not a very patient person. If someone staggers around getting to the point of things, he isn't going to like it.
[-] Lack of motivation — He rarely has much motivation to do many things other than the basic necessities of life and schoolwork, though he tends to force himself to do anything school related. He sees accomplishing an education as a basic life necessity as well, mainly because he doesn't want to rely on anyone. Even so, he's not all too confident in his ability to achieve one, or much anything else, and this contributes to his lack of motivation.
[-] Inadaptability — He isn't good at dealing with anything he's not used to, whether it be food, settings or different situations.
[-] Stubbornness — Once he's dead seat on something, such as an opinion or decision, it's quite a feat to change his mind. This can sometimes be a good thing, but more often than not, at least in his case, it really isn't.
[-] Cowardice — While he can put on a show of appearing tough, in reality, he isn't at all. He's very easily reduced to fear.
[-] Clumsiness — If there's a set of stairs he normally makes his way up and down, he's probably tripped down them.
[-] Inferiority — Though it might not seem it just by looking at him, he has somewhat of an inferiority complex, mostly in relation to his brother.
[-] Envy — He has a habit of getting jealous a little too easily, again, mostly in terms of his brother.

For Mutants
Power: Movement manipulation
Brief Description of Abilities: Lovino holds the ability to control any object or person's movement for a set amount of time so long as they are in decent range, even though he's not very skilled in terms of it, both due to his clumsiness and lack of experience attempting to use the power. The duration of which he can enforce this power varies, though it is usually very short lived. Normally, he can only tap into it when he ends up waving his hands or sometimes fists around in a fit of anger, though when this happens, him using his power is usually entirely by accident. Often times, the one he happens to be infuriated in front of ends up whipping down toward the floor face first or perhaps slammed back against a nearby wall or surface. The way the people and objects are thrown is directly linked with his hand movements. If he were to swish his hands to the right, a person's body would be flung right, likewise for left, up, down and every direction in between. Even once he figured most of these details out himself, he's never bothered to try and perfect this ability. He was a little too preoccupied with trying to hide it.
Enrolled at The Academy?: Yes.
::Advanced::
Personality: Lovino has quite the colorful personality, though many wouldn't vouch for this description in the kindest of ways. He often displays what he attempts to mold into a tough demeanor, though it tends to be forced, and is often just seen as rude or standoffish. While he doesn't actually try to give off these impressions, he does have an intense potty mouth that he know he should probably correct, but doesn't. It can be said that he's also not very much a social kind of person, that is, unless he's interacting with a woman. He seems to hold them in a different and brighter light than men, and acts almost like an entirely different person around them. His strict attitude and stubbornness seem to melt away under their gaze. Someone might not recognize him seeing how kindly he treats them as opposed to men. Just as well, he is also quick to flirt. Even though he has such a habit of doing this, he has what could be referred to as commitment issues, and has never once thought he'd shoot for anything long term
Amidst his strictness, he can be somewhat of a slacker. He's never been good at completing difficult tasks or chores, especially as a child. If he deems something unnecessary, then it's unnecessary. He won't so much as lift a finger. This is how he feels in terms of perfecting his ability. He's never seen any reason to perfect it, because really, in his eyes, it's just flinging things around like they're rag dolls. It doesn't seem like anything that would be all that useful for him, even if he got a grip on it, and thus, he doesn't bother.
Though he can occasionally get things done when he puts his mind to it, he's clumsy as well. He can screw up in what might seem like the silliest ways, such as putting a tad too much detergent in the wash, forgetting to dry his hands and dropping dishes, accidentally bearing down on a piece of paper so hard that it tears or even tripping down the stairs trying to move anything just a little too heavy. Despite the facade he never gives up trying to sport, he is actually a very timid and cowardly person. In the presence of anyone he sees as intimidating, even though the person might just happen be taller or flat out larger than him, he's reduced to a shuddering, stuttering mess. He hates the fact that he's so quick to fear, and even more when others see him in this state, but he can never seem to overcome it.
He also has a tendency to flush up, as well as burst into tears in various situations, whether he be scared, sad, or most of all, angry. It's one of the few ways he can properly express himself, even though he also dislikes it when someone witnesses him crying.
History: Lovino was born into a run of the mill family. It was a happy one, but this happiness didn't last very long, at least as far as he was concerned.
He was born as a twin, the older of the two. The two grew up normally until they graduated kindergarten. They interacted together as any average twins would. At the very least, he could recall that they got along better than their parents did. Even though Lovino wasn't yet old enough to grasp why, even he noticed around the time he was entering elementary school that they began to argue constantly, though they were a little more discreet around the twins. They often moved to another room, but he could still hear very well how they screamed.
Amidst all of this questionable craziness, he was taking notice to his powers. After accidentally using them for the first time and flinging a desk onto its side, he was more horrified than he'd like to admit of others discovering them and scorning him, especially his brother, who had practically witnessed his display. He'd gotten away from any suspicion on his part due to the fact that he was close enough to the desk and it looked like he'd flipped it with direct contact, but it was a narrow escape. He vowed to suppress this strange power from that day forward, keeping it a secret from anyone and everyone. Though he couldn't always stifle his anger, he was lucky. No one ever knew, not even his family. When it came down to it, he didn't care how or why he had these strange abilities, he just knew that they made him so unspeakably different that anyone who found out would surely think of him as a freak.
As time went on, his parents fought more and more. They practically screeched now.
Lovino was forced to hear all of it—every single word.
The more he learned and came to understand what these words meant, the more he wished he hadn't, and his blood boiled. From what he'd eventually gathered in total, his father had cheated on his mother for no good reason. His mother was enraged. As it turned out, around the same time, his mother had cheated on his father as well. His father often bit back to her accusations with comments as to whether or not the twins were actually his children or not. He grew to resent his parents, especially his father, whom of which he was eventually forced to live with when his parents split. He hated them for treating each other the way they did, and especially the way they treated him and his brother. Everything he witnessed between the two had led him to develop somewhat hateful view on relationships, whether they be intimate or not, and especially anything involving trust. This point of view only intensified as he grew older.
Not long after he'd moved in with his father, it was becoming more and more difficult to keep his strange abilities a secret. He was angry a lot more than usual, especially what with being torn away from his brother like he was, who was usually the only one who could manage to calm him down if only some. Around the time his father invited a woman into their new household, presumably the woman he'd cheated on his mother for, he couldn't hold it in anymore. Before he knew it, he'd gone and slammed the couch the two happened to be seated at against the wall, knocking them both off. Neither were seriously hurt, though despite the way his father scolded him, screamed at him, told him over and over again that he should have taken his brother with him instead, that his brother was always the better child, he didn't feel dejected or disowned. He should have, but he didn't.
He no longer considered him a father. A large part of him wished they had been hurt, though his fit of rage was accidental. He stopped fearing others discovering his power, because the only person that mattered to him was no longer a part of his life anyway.
It was a struggle, but in the end, Lovino left home came to Galena City and enrolled in the academy not in hopes of honing his abilities, but to escape his family situation. He can't find himself caring about much else, but he figures getting a grip on his power would just be a bonus, even if he's more or less forced to try now. It's better than living with his father and that strange woman he refuses to call a mother.
((Note: I've left the identity of Lovino's younger brother untouched for a reason. This way, if a Feli apper comes along and decides they don't want to work with this background, then they don't need to. The two could just be cousins, or something, to work around the whole last name issue. When the two characters interact, Feliciano will probably just end up reminding him of his brother in a lot of ways, and, well.. that'll be all sorts of fun to work with, too.))
Sample RP:
Lovino heard a meow, one of which he presumed belonged to a cat.
Now, he'd never cared for cats in particular, but after zoning out through the majority of his walk home's usual soundtrack—cars, people, birds—hearing a meow of all things caught him a little off guard. He rarely saw cats on the prowl outside on his normal route, which is why he didn't hesitate in turning to look. A black cat sat just behind him, looking up at him, tail twitching as he noticed it before plopping back down to the ground.
He scowled down at it, quirking a brow and wondering what the furball could possibly want from him. It should have known just by looking at him that he had nothing to give. Scoffing at its lack of further reaction, he turned right back around, continuing on his way without a second thought.
Then, there was another meow.
He turned again, surprised to see the cat still following after him. Normally, he would have just left it be, but even as he tried to go on stepping a bit of a distance away, it grew closer still.
“The hell do you want?” He finally tried, not yet realizing that he was speaking with a stray cat, and even more than that, expecting some form of answer. Should he have noticed what he was doing, he might feel embarrassed from how silly the prospect was.
It simply went on staring up at the young Italian with its uselessly wide, seemingly shimmering eyes, pawing its way forward whenever he tried to move. Finally, he grew irritated with its stalking and abruptly turned, jumping closer himself. If that wasn't enough, he let out a loud shout, succeeding in shocking the wits out of the cat. It darted off without pretense, save for a sharp screech, leaping onto a nearby garbage can before heading off into some alley.
With that kind of reaction, he almost felt guilty, but then again, he wasn't sure he should. It was better to shoo the thing away than get its hopes up, wasn't it? It had expected something, right? Deciding not to mull over it, Lovino sighed, adjusted his bag and carried on, only sparing a final glance back in the direction the cat had fled. He wanted to make sure it wasn't following him, after all.

Just to let ya'll know, I think bananas are pretty fly. So are cupcakes, even though muffins would have to top it for me. Parakeets are too, don't get me wrong, but I've had some bad experiences. Seriously, they know how to swoop. It was a little too much for eleven-year-old me to handle.
